The President of the Balearic Islands rewarded

For his contributions to the tourism of Punta Cana

BREAKING NEWS: PUNTA CANA. - President of the Balearic Islands, Antich Antigua, was rewarded by the authorities and tourist investors of Higüey, for the contributions carried out by his government in the field of tourism of the zone.

Francisco Antich Antigua arrived at the beginning of the week by the International airport of Punta Cana and was received by a commission to which belonged the honorary consul of Spain; Juan Alora, the president of the Balearic community in Dominican Republic; Antonio Ramis, and Ernesto Veloz, president of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Development of the East.

After his arrival to Higüey, the president of the government of the Balearic Islands met the principal investors of Majorca to the Grand Ibero Star Hotel.

He received a parchment recognizing him as the Distinguished Son from the municipal district of Berón, as well as the keys of this municipality.

These rewards were given by the municipal deputy, María Vásquez and the president of the Municipal council, Ernesto Veloz, as well as by the city council members Juan Acosta and Ada Nirza García.

Miss Ámbar Mundial 2009

The final of the beauty contest will take place in Punta Cana

BREAKING NEWS: Punta Cana. - RIU Hotels & Resorts is the principal sponsor of the international beauty contest Miss Ámbar Mundial 2009 which will take place in Punta Cana. The ceremony of handing-over of the crown will take place on Saturday July 25, 2009 in the Riu Bambu Hotel, after an intense week of repetitions, work and services.

This year, the contest will welcome beautiful representatives of about thirty country of four continents.

RIU launched a special offer which includes a place to attend the election of Miss Ambar Mundial 2009.

The final will proceed in the Riu Bambu Hotel but it is opened to all the customers accommodated in one of the five hotels of the RIU complex of Punta Cana (Riu Palace Punta Cana, Riu Palace Macao, Riu Bambu, Riu Taino y Riu Naiboa).

The beauty contest Miss Ámbar was created in 1975 as a homage to amber.

The Dominican Republic has an important reserve of this exotic and millenary stone and Miss Ámbar Mundial is a way of projecting its beauty and its importance.

They are now 15 years that the Gatsby Dominicana Company is responsible of the organization of the event, which becomes increasingly important and which is today one of the appointments of the most prestigious beauties of Latin America.

The contest also allows making the promotion of the tourist destinations of the Dominican Republic, which is centered this year on Punta Cana.

36 countries are participating.

Among those, they are beauties of Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, Cameroun, Taiwan or Iran.

AMResorts will join Cap Cana to open a luxury hotel

BREAKING NEWS: AMResorts will form a company with the tourist complex Cap Cana to open a Golden Bear Lodge & Spa, first hotel inspired by the Jack Nicklaus golf.

Golden Bear Lodge & Spa of Cap Cana, located on a headland between the golf courses of Punta Espada and Las Iguanas, will be added to the portfolios of AMResorts in the Zoëtry Collection.
