Punta Cana Dominican carnival celebrated

BREAKING NEWS: Punta Cana.- Always attached to the country’s traditional events, the Punta Cana area dressed in colors and joy to celebrate the third version of Carnival Punta Cana, in which nearly a thousand persons, from about 15 provinces across the country, marched in their carnival costumes, with the aim of showing the cultural and folk traditions of Dominican visitors who are in the region of Punta Cana, Bávaro, Macao, Arena Gorda Uvero Alto.

Punta Cana Carnival was held at the First of November Boulevard opposite the Punta Cana International Airport, where visitors enjoyed the parade, music and dance, concluding with the presentation activity of an orchestra surprise.

This carnival is the result of the initiative Punta Cana Group and Corporate Social Responsibility program, aiming to promote Dominican culture and folklore throughout the world and especially to the thousands of tourists visiting the East region.

The event was organized by Punta Cana Resort and Club and the Union Carnavalesca Vegana . He had the support of the Ministry of Tourism among others.

New charter flights between the Dominican Republic and Argentina are announced

BREAKING NEWS: Punta Cana.- Gol airline will start in April, a period of charter flights to Dominican Republic, covering the route Buenos Aires-Sao Paulo-Punta Cana (east), following the renewal of an agreement with leading tour operators in the country, allowing more Tourist flow to the area of Punta Cana, according to local tourism sources reported today.

Charter flights arrive at the airport in Punta Cana Dominican Republic each week on Sundays at 7.00 local time (11.00 GMT), said a statement from the Dominican Tourism Ministry.

The Boeing 767 with capacity for 250 passengers will fly to Dominican territory until 18 December, the report said.

The new route was the result of an agreement between the airline Gol and ten Argentine tour operators, ensuring the capacity of the aircraft.

The start of this operation confirms that the Argentine air continues to be chosen the Dominican Republic as a preferred destination in the Caribbean , the local Ministry of Tourism.

President Leonel Fernández attends millionaire tourist project presentation

BREAKING NEWS: Punta Cana.- President Leonel Fernández attended on Friday the presentation of the GEMS at Cap Cana hotel project, which has investment of over US $ 400 million, and will provide 1.100 new rooms and create 6,000 new jobs.

The president said that this investment demonstrates once again the confidence of foreign investors in the Dominican Republic. He noted that this project and the one inaugurated yesterday in Juan Dolio, Project Marbella by Metro Country Club, were two of the best bets of Dominican Republic.

He highlighted the fact these investments are made in the country even when the global financial crisis is not totally finished. The project will be built by AM Resorts, and the four hotels to be completed by the end of 2012, explained Alex Zozaya, president of the project.

This project also known as the jewel of Cap Cana will be composed by hotels ZOETRY GEMS CAP CANA , CAP CANA SECRETS, NOW GEMS CAP CANA, NOW PREFFEREND GEMS CAP CANA.

The GEMS project at Cap Cana will be built by the company AM RESORTS, both belong to Apple Leisure Group, whose chairman is Mr. John Mullen, to whom the tourism minister gave him recognition for his contributions to the tourism industry and the confidence in the country.

The project covers 14 thousand square meters of commercial and recreational facilities, a convention center, casino, gourmet restaurants, bars, boutique, club and pool, among others.

According to Zozaya, in 2012, AM Resorts, will include 30 hotels and over 10 thousand rooms, including 10 hotels and 3,300 rooms in the Dominican Republic. The event also addressed the president of Cap Cana, Ricardo Hazoury and Muller, who thanked Fernández for his support for the project.

Hazoury said the worst of the economic crisis has passed, and now that they looked with optimism to the future. He said investors continue to manage known and moral value.

While Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier Garcia, emphasized the importance of the hotel project and wished success.

The activity was attended also the director of the Center for Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD) Eddy Martinez, Minister of Higher Education Ligia Amada Melo, vice president of Cap Cana, Fernando Hazoury and hotel operators, among others.
